BBQ that’s just about as sweet as the friendship

I’ve said it before, but one of the benefits that I received when I married Scott was the introduction to some of his really incredible friends.

Greg is one of those guys. Added benefit? Greg’s a professional, award-winning, competitive BBQ’er. Greg is both licensed to judge BBQ competitions as well as talented in the art of BBQ submissions. We have learned when Greg invites us to a competition, WE GO!!

Last weekend we were able to go to the competition at the American Royal grounds. The basic process is that they cook a ton of each category of meat (pork, brisket, chicken, ribs) Then they select the part of the meat that looks the best and submit that to be judged. But guess what happens to all that other meat? WE EAT IT!! Each category felt like ‘Oh yeah; THIS is the best submission so far!’ but then by the time the next category of meat rolled around, I was equally convinced that was the best one.

I think overall, the pulled pork was my hands-down favorite. Chicken being a close second! Just fall off the bone tender. The sauce was perfect. Yummmm…..I could go on and on.

Hannah went with us this time and she and I enjoyed (yet again) watching the dynamic between Greg and Scott. She commented, “They even LOOK alike!” I always love watching their dynamic. Two friends who have been through a lifetime of experiences together [insert understatement].
